A template is a one-page background image that appears on the bottom layer of your notebook page.

Templates are built into ReMarkable and can be selected when:

• Creating a new notebook.
• pen a notebook and select a template from the Layer Menu.
  
  

To install new templates on your ReMarkable, you’ll need one of our apps to update your tablet’s template database, ensuring they appear natively in your device’s template selection.

The power of templates lies in their flexibility—you can switch them page by page within your notebook, creating a custom workflow that suits your needs.

A digital planner is a multi-page PDF designed for use on the ReMarkable. Unlike templates, digital planners are not proprietary to ReMarkable and can be imported directly using the free ReMarkable app available on their website. These planners often include hyperlinks for easy navigation and function more like traditional notebooks or journals.

Can PDFs Be Used Like Templates?

Yes, but this is not a native approach. If you want to use a PDF page as a template, you’ll need to manually duplicate pages inside your notebook:

1. Open the Page View in your notebook.

2. Long-press the page you want to duplicate.

3. Select Duplicate from the menu.

Keep in mind that this method also duplicates any annotations on the page. To avoid copying previous notes, it’s best to start with a fresh, unmarked page before duplicating.
